How to add extra teachers to a class
Potential use cases:
- You have trainee teachers, typically you want to pair them with a qualified teacher.
- You have a student with an ILP which requires a support teacher assigned to them for some classes
- You have a teacher that requires a support teacher to assist in lesson delivery
- You have a team teaching program and want two teachers assigned to the same class for some or all of their lessons
Instructions:
You can put 2 teachers onto the same class, using a plus symbol in the 'Teachers' column in the "Data Entry > Classes" table. For example:
ACH+LTO : You want ACH as the main teacher and LTO as the extra teacher.
ACH,GAV,COR + LTO : You want one of ACH,GAV or COR to be the main teacher, and LTO is the extra teacher.
ACH + 3:LTO : You want ACH as the main teacher and LTO as the extra teacher but only for 3 periods. Suppose it's a 4 period class. Then for 1 period ACH takes the class on her own.
Normally we encourage you to go to the "Data Entry > Courses" screen to define staffing options, but when things get complicated like any of these scenario you must use the "Teacher req" field available in the "Data Entry > Classes" screen.
We also recommend you designate a Teachers Aide as such, and trainee teachers can be treated equivalently. This will enable Atlantis Covers to know e.g. that a teachers aide cannot be used as a cover except for another Teachers Aide or for duties and maybe roll-call classes. Go to "Data Entry > Teachers", click on [Optional columns], and turn on the TeachersAide column. Put 'Y' next to any teachers aide or trainee teacher and leave the other cells blank.
